BWF 121 - Firefighting application





2011263_2 Self priming pumps adapted for firefighting purposes
ITT Austria have sold 21 units of BWF121 to the fire brigade in Vienna and have more offers pending.
The process started in 2006 with a test run against a competitor pump from Switzerland.
For the first test, a standard pump was used. But there were some problems with clogging of the impeller. The competitor pump from Switzerland had problems with their motor. So they both got a new chance to come back with some modifications. After choosing another pump housing with a bigger throughlet and with better pump performance (max. 200 m³/h and max. 35 Meter) a second test was performed and ITT Austria were declared winners!
Before putting the pumps to use some additional modifications were made to the “fire brigade version of BWF121”:

door in the front of the pump, for easy access to the pump housing - no need for special tools to open the pump

diesel counter on the tank to show how much diesel is in the tank

better construction of the tank valve to avoid leakage during transportation

Custom-made additional accessories sold together with the pump:
 
adjustable drawbar to move the pump on site by hand (2 people)
 
4” PVC-hoses in different length (steel reinforced)
 
special strainer with 30 mm throughlet and 4”-coupling part
 
drawbar to move the pump with a car (max. 5 km/h)
2011399-8 Special costume-made car trailers were ordered separately by the fire brigade from an Austrian manufacturer. The pump is mounted on the car trailer and can be removed from it to be more flexible on site.
